Bentley Copse Activity Centre

Bentley Copse Activity Centre, Surrey is located in the heart of the Surrey Hills, 20 minutes from Guildford. The centre has over 15 activities, 3 accommodation buildings and 18 campsites. During the summer the centre can have up to 500 customers on site. On our door step is the Surrey Hills with access to miles of walks, mountain biking and is popular as a training venue for DofE groups, for full details see their website.

Bentley Copse Activity Centre are looking for two Outdoor Activity Instructors for a 12-18 month apprenticeship starting very soon! You will be trained and supported to deliver a range of outdoor and adventure activities as well as learning about the general running of a busy centre.

While working at Bentley Copse Activity Centre, you could obtain the following qualifications:

  • 2 Day ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid
  • Safeguarding training and certificate
  • Manual Handling (ITC Level 2 Award in safe moving and handling)
  • ITC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the workplace
  • COSHH Training
  • Customer Care Training
  • Prevent Training

Land:

  • Climbing Wall Instructor Award Training
  • Mountain Training Hills Skills Training
  • A range of NGB awards dependent upon individual and employer aspirations

Accommodation and full uniform is provided, food is also available when schools are onsite (a food budget is provided to the apprentices when schools are not onsite) 

 

Day to Day Duties:

  • Setting up and Delivering Activities
  • Site Work as directed by Centre Manager
  • Cleaning of accommodation and toilets on-site
  • Serving of meals to large groups and schools
  • Setting up for large events such as putting up tents for large schools
  • Maintenance of activity equipment
  • Maintenance of centre

Desirable skills and qualifications, but not essential:

  • Some experience in outdoor activities
  • A passion for personal development through outdoor activities
  • 5 GCSE’s

Future Prospects:

  • Full Time instructor role
  • Links with other outdoor providers, centres and clubs.

Essential Details:

Hourly rate: Apprentice National Minimum Wage

Working Hours:  35 hours a week (annualised hours).  Can include weekends and evenings.

Closing Date: Sunday 21st February 2019

Interview Date: Thursday 28th February 2019

Potential Start Date: Monday 11th March 2019
