- Paddlesport Leader Assessment Preparation Day
28th March 2018
9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Are you thinking of going for your Paddlesport Leader Assessment? Would like to brush up on your knowledge, skills and leadership of different craft? This could be just what you’re looking for!
This is a fun, informative and very practical look at the things a paddlesport leader will need to consider when leading a fleet of mixed craft. The day will be split into two areas; leadership principles and considerations for a mixed fleet and safety frameworks for mixed fleets including: rescues, towing, rafting and assisting.
The day is built round you and your requirements – you may wish to focus on one craft as this is an area for development for you, SUP for example. Or you may wish to try all the craft available to you on the day which will include: Sea kayaks, different types of SUP, racing kayaks, canoes and GP Kayaks.
The day will be delivered by an active, multi discipline, British Canoeing Paddlesport Leader National Trainer who has a genuine passion for all paddlesport.
At the end of the day you’ll have an action plan and ongoing support from your tutor should you require it.
Further details about the Paddlesport Leader Award can be found on the British Canoeing Website:

Getting to COACH in Taunton
Our centre at COACH is an urban green space with an ethos on healthy outdoor lifestyles – with this in mind there are a host of parking options a short walk away but none at the centre.
For weekend courses we recommend parking in the Castle Sports Centre Carpark where you are only a short walk through Longrun Meadow to the centre – keep a look out for the large Oak barn, keep this on your left as you walk towards the river.
Follow the signs for the leisure centre and not the college – parking is £1 per day or free on a Sunday at the time of writing.
Car Park address: Castle School, Wellington Road, TA15AU
There is also free parking in nearby residential areas (not French Weir Avenue) but please park considerately.
