Malvern Outdoor Elements are inspired by the great outdoors.  They offer high ropes and zip wires, abseiling, climbing and orienteering, mountain walking and grass sledging, kayaking, bush and water crafts, and lots more, all with a focus on team working, leadership, building independence, self-confidence and facilitating exploration.

Malvern Outdoor Elements in West Malvern are looking for 2 apprentice multi activity instructors for a 12 month intermediate apprenticeship starting on 3rd September 2018. To find out more about the centre see their website.

While working at Malvern you will obtain the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership
  • Level 2 Award in Introductory Work in the Outdoors
  • Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills English if required
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills Maths if required
  • Outdoor First Aid qualification
  • A range of NGB awards dependent upon individual and employer aspirations

Day to Day Duties:

  •  Assisting with activities
  •  Assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of equipment
  • Liaising with customers and other members of staff

Desirable skills and qualifications, but not essential:

  • Some experience in outdoor activities
  • 5 GCSE’s
  • Own transport

Future Prospects:

  • Potential to move onto a Trainee Instructor Program
  • Advanced qualifications
  • Full Time instructor role
  • Links with other outdoor providers, centres and clubs.

Essential Details:

Hourly rate: Apprentice National Minimum Wage £3.70 per hour

Working Hours: 30 hours a week (can include weekends)
