Our Apprenticeship
The new Outdoor Activity Instructor Standard was approved in September 2018. We were part of the trailblazer group that developed the new standard and since its approval we have successfully been delivering this standard across England.
As an employer, it is important to fully understand the benefits that you can receive from having an Apprentice and what it involves. Our aim is to deliver high quality employer-focused Apprenticeships in the workplace. We do this by allocating you:
– A dedicated account manager
– Recruitment assistance
– A dedicated tutor for your apprentices
– 24/7 support
– Cost – effective employees
– Additional training and CPD
– Partnership links with SWATPRO
– Modern learning systems
– No off-site study centre (we come to you)
– A great training package
Training and Assessment
Apprenticeship training comprises on and off the job hours which are found within contracted time. The standard is well structured, independently assessed and clearly aligned to your employer’s needs.
There will be an End Point Assessment which includes:
- Practical Test of planning and observation
- Professional Discussion
- Portfolio of Evidence
We will work with you and your Apprentice to get them to ‘Gateway’ and ready for the End Point Assessments.

“Apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for aspiring instructors to gain hands-on experience in outdoor activities. This experience, combined with the national qualifications offered form a strong foundation for future employment opportunities and progression into senior roles.“
“The Mount Batten Centre Charity Trust believe passionately in the apprenticeship pathway – immersing young people in the centre environment produces qualified instructors who have rounded soft and hard skills and an incredibly broad base of experience of dealing with a wide variety of customers. This is opposed to our experiences with young people who are on full-time college based courses who do not have the experience at being at the “coal-face”, they may possess NGB qualifications but they don’t have the experience of session delivery and working with customers that apprentices do”
